Blog Post #4: Prayer

What are new things that you learned about prayer from this unit? Be specific.   This unit I learned all about the different prayers and how to pray. Different types of prayers include  lectio divina (divine reading), singing, dancing, reflection and more. Prayer is a way of communication with God and can help grow you relationship with him. Confession, Thanksgiving, and Intentions are all part of praying. Praying is important to be personal so you can reflect and improve on yourself.   It can also be a form of meditation which can calm your nerves and make you focus on what you want to do.  Can you see yourself implementing any new prayer practices? I personally think I need to mediate more because a lot of times I need to focus, and I can only focus if I am calm. I also want to do more Lectio divina, because I think it is important to understand the events of the Bible. I feel that listening to music and singing can relieve a lot of stress ...

Blog Post #3: The 4 Gospel Writers

Each Gospel Writer has different symbols, but all have wings. Each Gospel writer wrote in Greek to different audiences. Some of the writers have more direct relationships with Jesus than others like John. John the Apostle was a 1st hand account because he had a direct relationship with Jesus, he was an Apostle. John was known as the “beloved disciple.” Mark wrote to the Jews during late 60s and 70s, his symbol was the winged lion. Matthew wrote to the Jews during the 80-90 AD and his symbol was an angel. Luke wrote t the early gentiles/church in during 90 -110 AD, and his symbol was a winged ox/bull. John wrote to nonbelievers and believers of the church during 90- 100 AD, his symbol was the rising eagle. All four Gospels basically recount the same story just with different details. All four have two people who are on either side of Jesus. Every story, Jesus has significant last words before he dies. Jesus also asks for God’s forgiveness and help.
